The Story of a Tradition
Career Overview
Raised in Granbury, Texas, Ridge first picked up the fiddle at age seven after being introduced to the instrument by his father. He began performing publicly at nine, and throughout his early years played several days each week for city events, civic organizations, fundraisers, nursing homes, and other community gatherings.
Ridge won his first fiddle contest at ten and soon began studying with Joey McKenzie—first his teacher and later his bandmate in The Western Flyers. By his early teens, he had also taken up rhythm guitar and singing, developing a broader command of the music while remaining deeply rooted in the Texas fiddle tradition.
His honors include the 2018 World Champion title, Grand Master Fiddler championships in 2019 and 2024, and consecutive U.S. Grand National championships in 2024 and 2025. In 2021, he released his debut solo album, Lone Star Fiddler, a collection of authentic Texas-style fiddle music.
Since joining The Western Flyers in 2019, Ridge has toured and recorded with the band while continuing to perform independently. His career highlights include appearances at the Grand Ole Opry in 2021 and 2026 and four performances with The Western Flyers at the USA Pavilion during the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan. Altogether, he has performed thousands of times across 15 U.S. states and Canada.
After more than a decade onstage, Ridge brings more than technical achievement to a performance. He brings the preparation, judgment, and audience awareness required to serve each occasion professionally and connect naturally with the people in front of him.
